Seawind of Battery - “East Coast Cosmic Dreamscaper” :: WarHen Records 8/02

Overwhelming flashbacks of the mind seduce the rhythms and perfected quality of an entangled sunset setting someplace epic in the eastern distance. Its landscape breath stretches across the holy infinity of emotional boundaries both challenged and cherished. Where shadows lean into exhausted spirituality, elderly sunlight pierces through the pages of past, present and future, while simultaneously lurking in the unknown practice of patience and precision. Where paradise clashes with the crystal clear prayer of sound and echoed canyons of monumental vibration, bleeds this stationary ear that represents the algorithm audience of generational wisdom. New York based musician Mike Horn is a multi-instrumentalist, vibe guru and all out story teller via the instrumental practice. With silhouetted soundscapes healing the battered and busted body and delicate rhythms serenading the upstairs subconscious, Seawind of Battery returns to the marbled airwaves with yet another pristine effort entitled “East Coast Cosmic Dreamscaper” on WarHen Records. Coming off the atmospherical success of his 2022 debut, “Clockworking” on Island House Recordings, Horn summons a vintage courage that articulates a fruitful journey through a classic science fiction landscape. With the sharpened memory of cosmic influences combining forces against reality, an earthbound narrative emerges from the depths of the lunar surface, while casting silver light on the prehistoric North Atlantic. Its sodium sunsets appear and disappear upon a jeweled horizon, where a song from the ancient waves breaths a holy hum into the sky of meditated melody.

Throughout the album’s six lavish and opportunistic tracks, Horn does what he does best by inviting his listeners into the foraged experience of collecting tones and soothing sounds for a project that is both exciting as well as mesmerizing. Surrounded by native graffiti caves and shorelines littered with shell shards, Seawind of Battery breaks the ancient silence of prayer by highlighting the boundaries for one to cross in order to seek infinite refuge and soulful solace. With tracks such as “New Moon” and the album’s epic ender, “Stay”, listeners can expect the familiarity and soft teachings often found in Horn’s work, but “East Coast Cosmic Dreamscaper” has a message not necessarily found in his past recordings, or releases. The album’s skeletal ensemble of natural elements and soothing behavior reacts to its geodesic shape like nothing Horn has ever produced and its exactly this that makes for an exciting vision question from land to sea. Set for release in early August on the Charlottesville, Virginia based label WarHen Records, Seawind of Battery’s “East Coast Cosmic Dreamscaper” is a musical miracle for the mind and body.
